NATURE PRINTMAKING WORKSHOP: PRINTMAKING WITH NATURE'S BOUNTY
NPS Member/Secretary Lori Loftus will be teaching a nature printing workshop as part of the Wildacres Retreat “TRY IT ON” May 1st-5th.

Experience the joy of using an etching press to capture the detailed images of ferns, leaves, flowers, feathers and other natural objects. Explore the various techniques of printmaking including; painting on printing plates with a brush to create one-of-a-kind monotype prints, applying ink to a plate using a brayer and adding elements for additional pressings. Prints can be used in a variety of ways; framed, postcards, greeting cards, journals, collage and more. No previous printmaking experience is necessary and no drawing skills are required. All materials will be provided.

John is again teaching his five day classes devoted to making prints made on paper and cloth. No previous experience is needed. Classes limited to 12 students each. John brings lots of unusual plants from his own garden that are not usually available.

The cost is $699.00 for all meals and lodging in a motel like setting with room service. The program starts with supper and orientation on Sunday and ends after lunch on Friday.

There will be a $35.00 studio fee to cover all paper, inks, paints and unbleached muslin cloth. John also provides most of the plant materials including some rare and unusual plants from his own garden. Participants need to bring any clothing or other cloth items they wish to print.

The workshop is part of Elderhostel/Road Scholar Learning Program and is open to anyone 21 years or older. The classes will be held at the Cedar Lakes Conference Center located in Ripley, West Virginia, USA. Program Number is 5118RJ.
