Book Review by Chris Dewees
I happened across this new book at an Exhibition entitled “Meadow” at the Gualala Arts Center in Gualala, California in May of 2026. As a co-founder of the Nature Printing Society, I was intrigued and immediately went across Highway 1 and purchased a copy at the Four Eyed Frog Bookstore.

The book features more than 100 black and white nature prints of the flora found along the 10-mile coastal Sea Ranch development in northern Sonoma County. Each print has a one page description of the plant as well as notes about its habitat, ecology and human uses.
The prints are primarily leaf prints which often catch many of the important characteristics for identification. The book serves as both a guide to local flora as well as providing useful information. My wife Christy, a certifiable plant nerd, says she had always wanted to do a similar project.
This book will interest nature printers, naturalists, plant enthusiasts and hikers. Karen seems like she would be a natural fit with the Nature Printing Society where she would be among like-minded artists.
